Ann Marie Lipinski will step down in July after 14 years as the Nieman Foundation’s curator. She has led the organization during a period of historic change and disruption in the news industry.

Mark Trahant wins I.F. Stone Medal

Mark Trahant, who for more than five decades has worked for and led newsrooms in the American West, has been selected as winner of the 2025 I.F. Stone Medal for Journalistic Independence.

2007 Nieman Fellow Dong Yuyu sentenced in China

Journalist Dong Yuyu has been sentenced seven years in prison in China. Reacting to the news, Nieman curator Ann Marie Lipinski said: “We stand with many in hoping for a speedy reversal of this harsh decision.”
