WHY CHOOSE SIT FOR YOUR STUDY ABROAD EXPERIENCE?
Discover Programs on All Seven Continents
Choose from seven themes from over 30 countries. Become an advocate for sustainability and environmental justice through programs in Australia or Portugal. Immerse yourself in hiplife music and media houses in Ghana or explore ancient temples and traditional art in Indonesia. Develop international perspectives on public health in Chile, intern with a humanitarian organization in Jordan, or learn about migration and transnational communities in Mexico.
Travel Through Four Countries on our International Honors Programs
Get the most out of your study abroad experience with SIT's International Honors Program. Travel through four countries to gain a comparative view of healthcare, human rights, climate change, global cities, food systems, or death and dying.
Focus on Critical Global Issues
SIT programs address the most critical global issues of our time, including climate change, education, inequality, global health, and more. By framing our programs around these issues, you will have the expertise and intercultural understanding to develop responses to these challenges.
Build your Skills with an Internship or Independent Research
The internship or independent study project (ISP) component of SIT programs allows you to deepen your understanding of a topic by interning with a local organization or completing an academic or creative project. Many alumni have won awards for their ISPs and have continued their research through the Fulbright program and other prestigious fellowships.
Learn from Global Faculty & Staff
Engage with faculty and staff worldwide who were born, raised, and/or educated in the countries their programs are based in. You will learn from academic and program directors who have researched and taught at local universities, program coordinators with firsthand knowledge of everything from regional NGOs to the best local cafes, and homestay families with close ties to their communities.
Create a Global Impact
SIT Study Abroad alumni have gone on to work with prominent NGOs, organizations, and businesses, three alumni have been named Rhodes Scholars, and, most importantly, our alumni have become, and continue to be, advocates for the causes they believe in.
“I have been exposed to the tools I need to make meaningful change in my own life and the world. This program reconnected me to just how good it feels to do something – anything – to improve your immediate environment and community and the power we have together when we find like-minded collaborators. I am reentering the US and my final year of college with greater trust in myself and the courage needed to pursue ideas I have for social change and my vision of the ‘good life.’”
