These two weeks have seen HUPD fielding reports both mundane and absurd. As part of our Securitas series, we’ve combed through recent HUPD log entries and published some of the more colorful entries below.

Suspicious Activity (2:31 p.m.)
Littauer Center, 1805 Cambridge St., Cambridge
Officer dispatched to take a report that an individual received a suspicious letter . Update 9/20/11: The letter was biased in nature.
Suspicious Mail/Package (8:42 p.m.)
Peabody Terrace 02, 900 Memorial Dr., Cambridge
Officer dispatched to a report of a suspicious hockey bag in the entryway of the building. Officer reports that the bag contained laundry.

Suspicious Activity (2:30 p.m.)
37 Banks St., Cambridge
Officer dispatched to a report of an alarm. Upon arrival the occupants were unsure where the alarm was coming from as they have no alarm system in their residence. The alarm could have been from a low battery on the smoke detector. The occupants also informed the officer they turned on their lights and saw an individual running past their window.
Noise Complaint (11:22 p.m.)
Lampoon, 44 Bow St., Cambridge
Officers dispatched to a report of loud noise. Officers report the noise was not that loud but instructed the occupants to lower the music.

Museum of Natural History, 24 Oxford St., Cambridge
Officers dispatched to a report of an individual playing a flute in the area. Officers advised the individual of the noise and sent them on their way.

Unwanted Guest (8:15 a.m.)
Matthews Hall North, 9 Harvard Yard, Cambridge
Officers dispatched to a report of a suspicious individual sitting on the steps of the building. Officers report the individual was waiting for their friend.

Harvard Yard, 1 Peabody St., Cambridge
Officers dispatched t oa report of a suspicious individual staring at another individual. Officers searched the area for the individual with negative results.

Officer dispatched to take a report of an undetermined amount of stones, gems, and meteorites that were stolen.

Langdell Hall, 1545 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge
Officers dispatched to a report that an individual heard another individual coughing in the building. Officers escorted the individual to their destination.

Suspicious Odor/Smoke (4:31 p.m.)
New Research Building, 77 Ave Louis Pasteur, Boston
Officer dispatched to a report of a suspicious odor in the garage. Officer reports the smell was normal car exhaust fumes.
