MacKay Casts Ballot in Cambridge
Evan C. MacKay ’19 cast their Democratic primary ballot early Tuesday morning at the Graham & Parks School, kicking off their final day on the campaign trail.
MacKay said they were excited to cap off a monthslong campaign and expressed pride over the “momentum” their campaign had built.
“It feels really exciting to be part of this movement with so many people in all of our neighborhoods and around Massachusetts, insisting on change from our state legislature,” MacKay said.
Within 30 minutes of the polls opening, dozens of voters turned out to cast their ballots at the Graham & Parks School, which is located just steps from the Quad.
The polling location serves two Cambridge precincts, 8-1 and 10-2, which saw more than 1,700 ballots cast in the 2024 Democratic primary. Decker won both precincts, though she carried 8-1 by just three votes.

MacKay encouraged voters to seize their final opportunity to vote, referencing the last time they faced off against Decker — when the incumbent won reelection by just 41 votes.
“Every single voice matters, and every single vote could make the difference,” MacKay said.
Decker also made a brief appearance at the polling site Tuesday morning, shaking poll workers’ hands and thanking them for their work.
