Three men were charged last week in connection with two unrelated shootings in Cambridge in 2021 and 2023, the Middlesex District Attorney’s office announced Tuesday.

Two of the men — 27-year-old Anthony Samuel-Smith and 31-year-old Jameel T. Clark White — were indicted for a March 2021 shooting and armed robbery that hospitalized one victim. Clark White allegedly “shot the victim at close range and stole his vehicle which contained cocaine and fentanyl and drove away with Samuel-Smith,” according to the DA’s office.

Police allegedly found a pistol linked to Clark White in an investigation after the incident. They later found a casing from that gun and a second pistol that was identified as Samuel-Smith’s in the victim’s vehicle.

Both men have been charged with counts of armed robbery, firearm possession, and multiple drug-related charges.

The third man being charged, 20-year-old Jameel Dorcena, allegedly fired “multiple rounds into heavy traffic” in September 2023.

None of the three men could be reached for comment on their charges.

An investigation revealed that 11 rounds of ammunition were fired between two cars. Video footage showed Dorcena in his vehicle firing multiple rounds at a car in an adjacent lane. The other driver, who has not been identified, allegedly fired back at Dorcena and struck another vehicle before fleeing the scene, the DA’s office wrote.

Dorcena has been charged with multiple firearm related charges, including assault with intent to murder, and is currently detained.

Samuel-Smith and Clark White, who were charged over the 2021 shooting, will be arraigned on April 16. Dorcena, who was allegedly involved in the 2023 shooting, was arraigned last week, the DA’s office wrote in its statement.

The Middlesex DA has also pursued charges against individuals involved in 2024 shootings in the city. Less than a month after a May 23 shooting at Donnelly Field, CPD arrested two individuals who were charged for their involvement in the incident.

Though neither the 2021 nor 2023 shooting was fatal, prosecutors wrote that they were committed to “prioritizing all incidents of gun violence.”

“It is only through great good fortune that innocent bystanders were not injured or killed. We will not allow gunshots ringing out on the streets to go unchecked,” Middlesex DA Marian T. Ryan wrote in a press release on Tuesday.
