To the editors:
I was president of The Crimson in 1973, nearly 50 years ago. I agree entirely with your superb editorial endorsing the nonviolent Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) campaign, designed to promote justice in Israel/Palestine.
At the same time, I salute Crimson editors who disagreed with the editorial, and who published their dissenting views. It takes courage to speak out when you are in the minority.
Our editorial board addressed some of the same issues during the 1973 Yom Kippur/Ramadan war between Israel and certain Arab states. I support BDS because I don't want to see another 50 years pass before all the peoples in the region can live in peace and justice.
