1086 BC: First recorded consumption of a Scorpion Bowl in Ancient China.

1904: Speculated year that the Crab Rangoon was introduced to America at the St. Louis World’s Fair.

1954: The Kong opens, boasting one dining room on the first floor of its 1238 Mass. Ave location.

1970: The Kong renovates, expanding to three floors of fun.

1971: First recorded Scorpion Bowl related blackout.

1973: Billy Joel releases “Piano Man.”

c. 1976: The second floor becomes a “lounge”, and a dance floor slash comedy club is added to the third floor.

c. 1981: The second floor becomes known for its dirty dance parties. The Kong solidifies its status as the go-to late night spot for food and fun.

1983: First recorded dance floor make out. Many to follow.

1995: First fake ID resold on the black market for a Playstation II.

2003: A fire forces the Kong to close for several days. Harvard Hockey players wander the Square aimlessly.

2004: Youngest recorded person to enter the Kong’s second floor. Rumor has it she was 12. Some say she was just really short.

2007: The Kong tries to up the class factor with some renovations to the entrance and restaurant interior. Effectiveness is still up for debate.

2008: Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake walk past The Kong on their way to Daedalus.

Tomorrow, Oct. 17, 2008: You go to the Kong circa 2 a.m. Luckily, your ID is not stolen, although they have run out of crab-studded cream cheese.
