Sophomore Louis Caputo, after completing an All-Ivy First Team season for the Crimson, continued to wrestle in top form at the 2007 FILA Junior World Team Trials, securing his second straight title at this event.
In the Championship Final, Caputo faced Andy O’Loughlin of the Panther Wrestling Club, who had earned his berth in the finals after winning the FILA Junior Nationals in April. The sophomore defeated O’Loughlin in two rounds, 1-0, 2-1 in the first and 4-0, 1-0 in the second.
Caputo advanced to the finals after outwrestling three opponents in the Challenge Tournament. He defeated Trevor Perry of Hoosier Wrestling, 0-3, 7-0, 3-1, and proceeded to shut out Zack Giesen of Advanced Training Wrestling Club, 7-0, 1-0, and Jesse Strawn of King of the Jungle, 6-0, 2-0.
With the victory, Caputo will now represent the United States at the FILA Junior World Championships to be held in Beijing in late August.
