By Rebecca A. Seesel, Crimson Staff Writer

The NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins cleaned house before yesterday’s trade deadline, shipping off both the 107th and 109th captains of the Harvard men’s hockey team. The club parted ways with center Dom Moore ‘03 and defenseman Noah Welch ‘05 in a matter of hours.

Moore, who had 15 points in 59 games for Pittsburgh this season, was sent to the Minnesota Wild for a third-round pick in this year’s NHL Entry Draft.

Meanwhile, Welch was traded to Florida in exchange for veteran Gary Roberts and then promptly sent down to the Panthers’ AHL affiliate in Rochester. Welch had played in 22 NHL games for Pittsburgh this season, scoring once.
