Crimson women's basketball coach tapped by USA Basketball

By Alex Mcphillips, Crimson Staff Writer

USA Basketball announced yesterday that Harvard women’s basketball head coach Kathy Delaney-Smith will head the 2005 USA Basketball Women’s World University Games Team in August.

Organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the Games are held biannually for men and women between the ages of 17 and 28.

“We’re on a mission to bring home the gold,” Delaney-Smith said in a university-issued press release. “My goal is to try to create team chemistry because one of the best examples of that is to make your teammates better.”

LSU’s Pokey Chatman and Boston College’s Cathy Inglese will serve on Delaney-Smith’s staff. The games will be held Aug. 11-21 in Imzir, Turkey.
