Harvard freshman place kicker Matt Schindel was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week yesterday.
Schindel was honored for his seven point performance against Brown which included two field goals and three PATs. The two field goals came from distances of 34 and 22 yards.
Schindel has converted four field goals in four attempts this season.
Harvard converted just four tries all of last season in 11 attempts and its leading place kicker converted just two.
His three PATs increased his season total to six in as many attempts. The Crimson made just 82 percent of its PAT tries last season.
Another Ivy place kicker, Cornell’s Trevor MacMeekin, took home Ivy Special Teams Player of the Week honors for his three field goals in the Big Red’s win against Yale.
