The Forum and Freshman debating clubs will hold their regular weekly debates this evening at 7.15 o'clock in the Assembly Room, and at 7.30 o'clock in the Trophy room of the Union respectively. At this meeting the Freshman club will elect new officers for the second half year.
Both clubs have been very successful in their work during the past half year. the Forum, of which B. M. Nussbaum is president, has now about 50 members, and is divided into teams of four men each. Weekly debates between two of the teams are held on subjects of general interest to the University and the world. Cups will be given to the team having the best record at the end of the year. Membership was originally restricted to the members of three upper classes, who desire training in public speaking.
Under the presidency of O. Lyding, the Freshman club has developed into a strong organization. The regular weekly debates have well attended, and have gone a long way to increase the interest in debating.
Both clubs will be given the use of the new debating headquarters in Dane Hall.
