Judge Delays Court Hearing on Gunderson

By Garrett M. Graff, Crimson Staff Writer

A Middlesex County District Court judge delayed a hearing this week on the status of assaults charges against Brady D. Gunderson ’00-’01.

The case, originally scheduled for trial earlier this month, has been taken off the active trial list and no date is currently scheduled.

Douglas S. Brooks, who represented Gunderson at Tuesday’s hearing, says lawyers for both sides are trying to resolve the issue out-of-court.

The case stems from an on-going dispute between Gunderson and his ex-girlfriend, Maureen K. Schad ’00-’02. Both are Lowell House affiliates.

Although Gunderson has completed the requirements for graduation, the Registrar’s Office does not have a date of graduation listed for him. Normally, if criminal proceedings are ongoing against a student when the student is ready to graduate the University will withhold a degree pending the outcome of the charges.

A further discovery hearing on the case will be held Aug. 8.
