Complete...Abridged
Sometimes it is good to laugh, and at other times it is good to simply have a comfortable chair. It might be hard to find the latter in the old-timey Hasty Pudding Theatre, but the former will be in happy abundance as of tonight.
For lo, Summer Stages at the Hasty Pudding Theatre presents The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged).
Acted by three veteran Harvard actors, the Complete Abridged will run from Friday, July 23 (tonight!) through Sunday, August 8. Whether there is any significance in those dates is uncertain.
Pictured at right, pirate-garbed Will Burke '99 plays Hamlet; a quintessentially demure Adam "Waka" Green easily slips into the role of Juliet; and Erik Amblad '98-'99 (bowled over by the force of so many numeral hanging from the back of his name, no doubt) wears a tidy red cape and hat.
So, if you want to see that cape in color, head to the Pudding asap!
Falsettos
If you thought the Pudding had bad chairs, wait until you see the Loeb Ex! Falsettos, "a musical focusing on the value of family rather than family value" opened last night! If the above clever turn of phrase is not enough to attract you the the second performance, consider: How often does Harvard perform a Tony-Award winning musical? And how often does such a musical include a character named "Whizzer," whom "Marvin" is in love with?
If you have been wondering why you remained in Cambridge for the summer, here is your answer! Falsettos is presented by Harvard Radcliffe Summer Theatre, and it runs through July 31. Head for your Ex tonight!
