Denied Winter Campus Housing, International Students Scramble to Find Alternative Options
Working for Let's Go isn't the only way to travel for free. Extracurriculars + Spring Break = suntan, casual sex and fun. If you're not involved, you are just not a part of the equation. Here are some of the lucky Harvard students who are.
Hasty Pudding Theatricals: The 53 member company of "I Get No Kick from Campaign" unhook their padded bras and rip off their nylons as they hit Bermuda in style. Besides the usual skinny dipping and boat racing, members of Company 151 can look forward to "Paul Newman Day," when everyone must individually guzzle an entire an entire case of beer before the clock strikes 12. On "Package Night," band members do the full monty with a sympathetically naked tech crew to tote. Happy drinking!
Opportunes: The Opportunes will "Let the Music Play" while they sing at three Sandal's couples resorts in Jamaica. In exchange for their energetic performances, Sandal's lets the Opportunes party, sun and drink at these all-inclusive resorts. As part of a special, once-a-year treat, John Kearney, an a cappella enthusiast who heard the Opportunes sing at Sandal's eight years ago, will invite them to his plush estate for gourmet food galore.
Habitat for Humanity Do-gooders get down and dirty as they trek to Baltimore and Washington, D.C. to build affordable housing. Their tasks include demolition, installing drywall, digging ditches for waterlines, painting and clearing debris. The 20 people traveling each only pay $40 for lodging, food and the freedom to explore the cities after their job is done.
Pitches: Another a cappella group, another trip to Bermuda. The twelve Pitches travel with those handsome Kroks and Dins to--surprise, surprise--sing at hotels and restaurants all over the island. Random Pitch-Din hookups have become the tradition, as has "Fantasy Night," a crazy evening where each Pitch can pick her favorite Din solo to sing with some Din accompaniment. The cost? Nada--what do you think all those jams are for?
