This summer Radcliffe will hold its first Radcliffe College Seminar for Professional Leadership, a week-long event aimed at mid-career women, the college announced yesterday.
The seminar, which will run from June 27 to July 2, will allow up to 30 women to participate in group discussions and mentoring relationships with prominent women professionals, including current and former Bunting fellows.
"Unlike traditional mid-career programs, this new seminar is not limited to improving workplace skills; it takes a holistic and philosophical approach to meeting the diverse challenges of today's world," Radcliffe President Linda S. Wilson said in a statement.
Radcliffe's Bunting Institute and Graduate Studies Center are co-sponsors of the event.
Former Bunting fellow Miriam E. Nelson, a professor at Tufts University and a fitness expert, will lead sessions called "Strong Women Training." Tai Chi instruction will also be available.
Author and University of Chicago professor Martha C. Nussbaum will lead seminars on the theme of "Women and Human Development: Assessing the Quality of Life."
Group discussions will include "Integrating Personal Values and Voice," "Moving From Success to Significance," "Integrating Work and Family Issues" and "How Emotional Intelligence Enhances Professional Success."
"This new program will feed the body and soul--as well as the mind," said Bunting Institute Director Rita Nakashima Brock.
Eight of the 30 participants will continue through the program's second phase, which will allow them to work on independent projects for an additional one to three weeks.
