The staff unwisely supports yesterday's bombing of Iraq. We understand the need to hold the military dictatorship of Saddam Hussein in check, but economic sanctions have already inflicted a devastating humanitarian crisis on that nation; bombings are sure to further victimize Iraq's innocent civilians.

Furthermore, we must question Clinton's motives considering the timing of the attack. Congressional support of military action spreads quickly, and with it, support of the commander in chief. Clinton may well be trading innocent lives for votes in Congress, a possibility we find distressing.
