Henry I. Zimmerman '25

By Melissa ROSE Langsam and Justin D. Lerer

Harvard's number one sports fan, Henry I. Zimmerman '25, died of natural causes on Jan. 21 in Brookline. He was 93.

For 30 years, Zimmerman never missed a men's football or basketball home game. The super-fan also endowed an award for the basketball team's best free-throw shooter and introduced himself to team members during preseason games.

"He took being a fan to the next level," said men's basketball head coach Frank J. Sullivan. "He made a point of getting to know the [first-years] and really tried to follow the kids throughout their maturation."

Zimmerman is survived by his wife, Bona B. Zimmerman; two children and four grandchildren.
