Violent Rhetoric Must Stop

We deplore the tragedy which took place on the "Island of Peace," in which a Jordanian soldier fired on a group of Israeli schoolgirls, killing seven. This incident followed closely on King Hussein's letter of March 9 accusing Prime Minister Netanyahu of pushing Arabs and Israelis toward "an abyss of bloodshed and disaster."

It was thoughtful and proper for King Hussein to make a condolence trip to Israel. Nevertheless this tragedy reminds us of the dangers of violent rhetoric, and we call on the officials of the Palestinian Authority in particular to stop their threats of violence on this issue. --Harvard Students for Israel   Advisory Board
