Christians Not United On Issues of Sexuality

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Christopher G. Roberts' '01 letter regarding National Coming Out of Homosexuality Day was a perfectly reasonable (though highly debatable) summary of majority conservative Christian beliefs regarding sexual orientation However, he claimed that his statement reflected the beliefs of all Christians, when in fact there is a diversity of opinion concerning sexual orientation in Christian churches and among Christian laity and clergy. Since his comment appeared in a publication associated with the same institution as Pusey Minister of Memorial Church Peter J. Gomes his over statement seemed especially ridiculous. --Barbara Purdom and Christopher Purdom,   Coordinators, Interfaith Working Group, Philadelphia
