Kohler, Viders Lead M. Soccer

Capping off an important week for Harvard men's soccer, dynamic duo Will Kohler and Zach Viders were named the Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for the Ivy League.

Kohler, a junior who has consistently led Harvard in scoring all season, tallied three goals and two assists this past week, including the gamewinner in Harvard's 3-1 victory over Yale on Saturday. He also notched a goal and an assist in Harvard's loss to Maine last Tuesday.

The midfielder/forward raised his season point total to 18 (seven goals, four assists) and jumped to the head of the leaderboard in points scored in Ivy League play.

Freshman phenom Zach Viders iced the win on Saturday for Harvard with a splendid header against arch-rival Yale. He also scored the first goal in the team's 2-2 tie against Lafayette on Sunday. Viders is currently the second leading scorer for the Crimson on the season, having raised his season point total to 10 (five goals) with his two goals this week.

The performance of Viders and Kohler were the highlights of an important week of soccer for the Crimson (5-4-2, 3-1 Ivy), Hanging onto second place in the division behind undefeated Brown, Harvard is only one game back in the Ivy League standings.

The Bears had another impressive week of soccer, remaining perfect through 'nine' regular season games. Gary Hughes (Sr., M) scored the game-winner against Columbia, adding an assist in the winning effort for Brown. Hughes was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll for his week's performance.

Cornell (8-1-1, 3-1-0) held onto a share of second place with Harvard this past week with an overtime 3-2 victory at Connecticut. Scott Jones (Sr., B) scored his first two goals of the season and was named to the Honor Roll in the winning effort for Cornell.

Dartmouth (2-8-0, 1-2-0) continued its Hanover winless streak dropping its fifth straight at home to Princeton on Saturday. The win brought Princeton (8-3-0, 2-1-0) to within one-and-a-half games of league leader Brown in the race for the Ivy crown. Seth Dorros was named to the Honor Roll for his game-winning goal as a fill-in starter for Princeton.

Harvard is in action again this afternoon against Boston College at Ohiri Field at 3 p.m. The Crimson will also host rival Princeton on Saturday.
