Denied Winter Campus Housing, International Students Scramble to Find Alternative Options
The Radcliffe Union of Students supports the boycott of Women Appealing for Change (WAC) in that it is the first step to ending the elitism of the final clubs. Sexism, however, is not the only problem with the clubs. Admittting women to the clubs will not end socieconomic, racial and other forms of discrimination, but it is a good start. The issue will not be resolved when and if the final clubs go coed.
We support the boycott because women who attend final clubs deserve to have control over their social situations and because it is an opportunity to bring campus women together. We think the dialogue spurred by the boycott will serve to educate first-years, women and men, so that they may make informed decisions about whether to join or attend final clubs.
Finally, we want to express our respect for the strength of those participating in the boycott. Maura Swan '94 Deborah J. Wexler '95 Anne Guine '95 Heather Leslie '96 Marta Rivas '96
