Supporters of imprisoned political extremist Lyndon H. LaRouche were stumping in Harvard Square yesterday, trying to convince passersby to sign a petition to get him out of jail.

The two LaRouche backers, who were also handing out pro-LaRouche material, say the five-time fringe candidate for president knows the economic cures for Eastern Europe.

"We are here today warning about the danger of civil war in Russia, as a result of those policies being imposed upon the former Soviet Union, in the form of Jeffrey Sachs shock therapy," said LaRouche supporter Roger P. Ham.
