The "Harvard-Radcliffe Science Alliance" was a good move by the University and the student coordinators to make a segment of the campus feel more secure about their concentration choice.
The conference was held last week to introduce 32 first year women who are prospective science concentrators to the world of science at Harvard. In departments that are usually accused of being male-dominated and unfriendly towards women, this meeting was a good first step towards building a gender equal community in our laboratories.
