Rev. Gomes has been a loyal servant of this community for over two decades. These allegations, which were first made about four years ago, were thoroughly investigated at that time as part of a broader review of Memorial Church management and financial practices. The conclusion of the review was clear: Rev. Gomes did not violate the trust which the University has placed in him. His actions and decisions were directed toward furthering the interests of Memorial Church and the University.

As a result of the review, suggestions were made for improving management and financial pratices and for reducing certain areas of expenditures. In short, there was need for improvement. Rev. Gomes accepted and carried out these suggestions.

We consider this matter closed and do not intend to review these allegations again.
