Armed Robber Holds Up Local Bank

By Alissa W. Lee

A white male armed with a revolver yesterday demanded money from a teller in the Cambridge Trust Company bank at 353 Huron Avenue, according to Cambridge police officials.

The robber, who was wearing a surgical mask, placed the currency in a bag and fled the seen at approximately 11:15 a.m., according to Detective Richard Gardner, the officer who handled the case. The bank has not yet disclosed the amount of money stolen.

Gardner said there is no reason to believe that the thief was working in cooperation with anyone else.

He said that the possibility of identifying the criminal rests largely on video footage taken by the bank's security camera.

"When we get the film developed from the bank's camera, we will proceed from there," said Detective Gardner.

The bank employees present at the robbery are the only witnesses so far known to the police, Gardner said.

Officials at the Cambridge Trust Company, which is located near Fresh Pond Parkway, would not comment on the robbery.
