To the Editors of The Crimson:

The Saturday issue of The Crimson reported the creation of a Freshman Dean search committee chaired by Dean of the College L. Fred Jewett '57 and composed of faculty members. We wanted to bring to the attention of your readers that, in fact, the faculty group is only one of two committees involved.

For the first time in a University-wide, administrative search, there will also be a student committee which will have significant input into all facets of the search process. The 12-member student committee will work with the faculty members and Dean Jewett on the selection of a candidate, and in an advisory capacity on broader issues surrounding freshman year.

Such concerns might include: freshman advising, the interaction between freshmen and the houses, freshman seminars and the selection of concentrations. Maya Prabhu '94   David L. Duncan '93
