MIAMI--Dan Marino passed for four touchdowns and tied the all-time National Football League record for scoring passes in a season as the Miami Dolphins rebounded from their only loss this year and beat the New York Jets, 28-17, last night.

The four TD passes by the second-year quarterback from Pittsburgh gave him 36 in 13 games, tying him with Y.A. Tittle of the 1963 New York Giants and George Blanda, who accomplished the feat with the Houston Oilers of the American Football League in 1961. Both Tittle and Blanda did it in 14 games. AFL records are recognized as officials NFL marks.

All of Marino's touchdown passes were short ones. The longest was a 12-yarder to tight end Bruce Hardy that tied the record with 4:11 left in the third period and gave Miami a 28-17 lead.

He also threw a 5-yarder to Mark Clayton, a 7-yarder to Dan Johnson and a 1-yarder to Hardy with 15 seconds left in the first half that gave Miami a 14-10 lead it never lost.
