John P. "Jack" Fadden, the well-known trainer of Harvard athletes for 54 years, died of prostate cancer Thursday in Cambridge at the age of 91.
"Jack was truly one of the all-time great human beings whose station in life was to help as many people as he could," Athletic Director William J. Cleary Jr. '56 said in a prepared statement.
The John P. Fadden Award, established in his honor in 1966, is presented annually to the senior who has made a significant contribution to his or her team despite a physical hardship.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Brookline. The burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury.
