Dormitory Parietal Hour Regulations at Radcliffe:

The dictionary not withstanding, "parietal hours" is the Harvard-Radcliffe term used for those hours during which students may entertain guests of the opposite sex in their rooms.

1. Each dormitory may vote to have up to but not exceed twenty-five parietal hours per week.

2. These hours must be between 12 noon and 10 p.m.

3. The days and times of these hours must be approved by two-thirds of the girls living in the dormitory.

4. Each dormitory president is required to notify the president of the Radcliffe Government Association, the House Heads, and the RGA Administrative Vice-President at the beginning of each term what her dormitory's parietal hours are.

5. Any changes must also be registered immediately with the RGA president, the House Heads and the RGA Administrative Vice-President.

6. All men must be signed in and out by their hostesses.

7. Any upperclassman may take bells during parietal hours., A member of the dormitory committee must check the apprppriate book at the close of parietal hours.

8. Each dormitory may alter its parietals in keeping with these regulations as soon as the RGA president, the House Heads and the RGA Administrative Vice-President are notified.

Harvard Parietal Regulations

1. Women shall not enter the Houses, dormitories or club-houses without special permission. In the Houses permission will be granted in accordance with the procedure established by the Masters. Students are here referred to the "House Rules" posted on the official bulletin board of each Harvard House and printed in its information leaflet. For other buildings permision must be obtained from the Proctor or the Dean and will be granted only when chaperones are present.

2. Permission to entertain women guests will ordinarily be given only between the hours of four and seven p.m. except that on Saturdays and Sundays the hours may begin at noon. On Saturday evenings and evenings before holidays, the hours may be extended to eight p.m. in the Freshman dormitories and to midnight in the Houses.

3. Women shall not enter Houses, dormitories or clubhouses unless they are properly escorted.
