The Harvard golf team captured the Aguwam Golf Tournament at the Aguwam Hunt Country Club yesterday in Providence, R.I.
The Crimson, which shot 397 as a team, finished ahead of Brown (405) and Dartmouth (410). Three Harvard golfers were among the top four scorers. Ross Cockrell finished with the best score of the day, shooting a 75. Mike Foster was third with a 77, and Captain Terry Murray (78) was fourth. Brown's Frank Brunner nabbed second (76).
Bill Boone (82) and Robert Kincaid (85) rounded out the Crimson's give scorers.
"It was a very good win," Murray said. "It's the first time we beat Dartmouth in four years and we beat them handily. We lost to them twice earlier this year, so it was sweet revenge."
The Crimson next competes in an NCAA qualifying tournament next weekend in East Greenwich, R.I.
"This win boosted our confidence going into the tournament," Murray said.
