The Harvard women's tennis team fell to top-seeded William & Mary, 8-1, yesterday at the ITCA Team Championships in Princeton, N.J.

At number 22 in the nation, the Indians are the only team in the East ranked higher than Harvard (25th).

The Crimson, the two-time defending ITCA champ, suffered from the absence of its two senior co-captains--who are taking time off--as it struggled in the first round of the Three-day tournament. Junior Amy DeLone had the Crimson's only win, defeating Danielle Durak in number-one singles, 7-5, 7-6.

In number-two single, sophomore Jennifer Minkus sprained her ankle in the game's second set and eventually lost to Jane Wood, 6-2, 7-5. Minkus is listed as doubtul for today's round. In the other four singles matches, three Harvard players extended their matches to three sets before succumbing.

The Crimson faces Virginia in the consolation rounds today. Virginia beat Ivy league rival Princeton, 7-2, yesterday. the results:

In other sports news, the Harvard-Boston College field hockey game scheduled for today has been moved to tomorrow.
