Char Joslin: Harvard's Best?

This past weekend, three-sport phenomenon Char Joslin proved why she may be the best athlete at Harvard. Joslin, a junior, led the Crimson field hockey team to a 7-1 win over Fairfield in Connecticut. Joslin scored four goals, tying an eight-year old school record, and took over the team scoring lead.

Last year, Joslin became the first woman in Ivy League history to be named first-team All-Ivy in three sports (field hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse) in the same year.

Also in the Fairfield game, Crimson freshmen Kara Hurley and Becky Gaffney had their first career goals.

Players of the Week

Penn striker Mike Constantino has been named the Ivy League Men's Soccer Player of the Week. The sophomore tallied a pair of goals to lead the Quakers past the Big Red in Ithaca, Sunday.

Cornell freshman forward Jeri Maerz was named Ivy League Women's Soccer Player of the Week. Maerz scored her first collegiate goal at 12:30 in the second overtime.

Sophomore Laurie Khelokian scored the game-winning goal in Dartmouth's 1-0 victory over Brown to earn Ivy League Field Hockey Player of the Week.

Kathy Meija was named Ivy League Women's Volleyball Player of the Week. The sophomore collected 62 kills, 13 digs, three block solos and one assist.

Four players were named to the Ivy League Honor Roll: Columbia striker Mike Connolly, who registered a goal and two assists in his first collegiate start at Hartwick; Columbia midfielder Nick Ziadie, who recorded two goals and one assist in the same game.

Harvard midfielder Ramy Rajballie, who was named the MVP of the Constitution Cup Tournament; and Dartmouth midfielder Andrew Wiese, who had a strong all-around performance against UMass and Princeton.

Harvard goalkeeper Liz Wald turned aside 24 shots in the Crimson's two games last week, allowing only four goals (a .857 save percentage)...Penn running back Bryan Keys turned in his second 100-yard rushing performance in as many weeks in the Quakers' 38-35 win over Bucknell...In Harvard's 45-28 loss to UMass, Crimson quarterback Tom Yohe had 363 yards of total offense, which puts him second on Harvard's all-time list.
