Harvard hockey Captain Steve Armstrong and defenseman Don Sweeney were honored recently by the New England Sports Writers' Association.

Sweeney, a senior, earned first-team honors and also copped the society's "Best Defenseman" award.

Armstrong, also a senior, earned the unsung hero award.

The awards were distributed to players in Division I colleges playing in the New England area.

Armstrong and Sweeney helped lead the Crimson to a third-place finish in the ECAC Tournament. Harvard also played in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, falling to Michigan State at Bright Center.
