The statement below and the two opinion pieces on this page are the result of discussions between representatives of the Senior Class Gift and the Endowment for Divestiture, both of which are soliciting donations from members of the graduating class. The organizations agreed to a printed debate after Class Gift agents refused an E4D proposal for a public debate.
Joint Statement of the Endowment for Divestiture and the Senior Class Gift:
Both the Endowment for Divestiture and the Senior Class Gift recognize the importance of supporting Harvard University in its mission of education and pursuit of academic achievement. We, the officers of both fund raising organizations, have written these separate articles in order to inform the University community of the existence of both groups and their aims and objectives. We believe that questions of how the University manages and spends its money are important ones to consider. We encourage seniors, alumni, and other Harvard affiliates to support the University in the manner they feel most appropriate.
