Two members of the Harvard men's basketball team were recently named honorable mention All-Ivy for their performance during the 1985-'86 season. Freshman forward-guard Neil Phillips and junior guard Keith Webster were both first time recipients of post-season honors.
Phillips was the only Crimson cager to start all 26 of the team's games this year, compiling a 11.5 points per game average (second on the team). The Germantown, Md. native added a team-leading 5.5 rebounds per game while hitting double figures in scoring 18 times and leading the cagers in that category on 11 occasions.
Webster led the team in scoring with an 11.6 p.p.g. average and also paced the Crimson with 22 double figure performances. The Monroe, Conn. native hit for a career high (and team season high) 25 points against Holy Cross in an early-season loss. The 5-ft., 11-in. guard added 67 steals and 47 assists to Harvard's cause this year.
The All-Ivy first team consisted of junior guards John Bajusz of Cornell and Perry Bromwell of Penn, senior forward Tom Gwydir of Columbia, and senior centers Jim Turner of Brown and Chris Dudley of Yale. Turner was also named Ivy League Player of the Year.
Dartmouth's Jim Barton was named Ivy Rookie of the Year.
