A disoriented man caused a minor disturbance in a Medical School dorm last night, according to Harvard Deputy Chief of Police Jack W. Morse.
Morse said the man knocked on a student's door in Vanderbilt Hall and asked if someone by a common first name lived there. The student directed the man to another room in the building.
The man, who Morse said may have been drinking or taking drugs, then wandered into a room where a student was washing dishes. She was holding a knife and asked him to leave, at which point he shouted and ran away, Morse added.
Morse and police officers on the scene refused further comment, but said they had a good description and would continue to search for the perpetrator.
