What used to be the Law School Divestment Committee has renamed itself the Law School Anti-Apartheid Committee to get administration funding--but in spite of the change, members will still pay for divestment activities out of their own pockets.
"The Law School would be willing to fund a committee doing education and other work against apartheid. It was not willing to fund one that worked solely on the issue of divestiture," said Lois P. Murphy '84, a second-year law student and member of the committee.
"We are able to get the money because we are broadening our scope and changing our name," Murphy said.
The Law School granted the organization $100 for photocopying this year and an additional $650 for approved activities, Murphy said.
