A crime prevention specialist at the University of Pennsylvania said last week that she will sue the university for racial discrimination.
Ruth Wells says she is suing because Penn was racially biased in its search for a new director of the Public Safety Department. Wells was a candidate for the position.
Wells says she is basing the legal action on "violations of affirmative action laws under Title VII as regarding the procedures that were taken in the hiring of the new director."
University officials denied the charges and said they would stand by their hiring decision and their policies. The Daily Pennsylvanian
