Basketball fans at the University of Virginia have put Harvard hockey boosters to shame. Last month, with more than a week remaining before tickets to the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament went on sale nearly 100 students had already queued up in front of the ticket office there.

Fourth-year student Mayer Grob said he and a friend started the line February 23 for tickets that went on sale March 5.

"This is my fourth time," he said. "I've gotten tickets every time.

"I've played about 10 games of back gammon." said UVA student Sean Shaughnessy, one day into the wait." and by the time I get a ticket, it'll be in the thousands."

UVA subsequently lost the ACC tournament in the final round to North Carolina State. --The UVA Cavalier-Daily
