Princeton and Harvard are playing the same game. While officials here feted early admission acceptees to the Class of 1987 at elaborate ceremonies last week. Princeton University officials orchestrated a similar program for students they accepted early three weeks ago.
Yale also had an early action program the week before.
Princeton's early acceptances compose a select group. The 350 admits boast mean SAT verbal and math scores of 688 and 724, respectively, and include 99 valedictorians among their number.
By most accounts, the red-carpet treatment was successful. The taste of college life even resembled the description of Princeton in admissions propaganda.
