Harvard women's squash star Mary Hulbert pulled a series of upsets on her way to the championship of the WISRA tournament at Williams this weekend.
Hulbert, the tourney's third seed, beat first-seeded Karen Kelso of Penn in the semi-finals and second-seeded Sophic Porter of Princeton in the finals to become Harvard's first individual champion at the national tournament in recent history.
The final match against Porter (who had beaten Hulbert in their two previous meetings) went right down to the wire. The Tiger held a 14-11 lead in the fifth game of the best-of-five match before Hulbert stormed back to win in a tie-breaker.
Harvard's Diana Edge edged out Diana Staley for fifth place in the tournament. Staley settled for sixth.
