The Harvard men's rugby team clinched the Northern New England Championship and a berth in next week's New England Championship by blowing out Holy Cross, 21-0, Saturday at Soldiers Field.
Junior Mark Bamford opened the scoring with a 30-yard penalty kick and a converted George Askew try gave Harvard a 9-0 halftime edge. Co-Captain Kevin Lennon, inside center Bill Seibold and Askew all added tries, none of them converted, in the second 40 minutes.
Harvard will host Boston University for the New England Championship. The game time has not yet been determined.
