In its first outing ever, the newly formed Harvard-Radcliffe women's rugby club defeated MIT, 10-6, on Saturday.
The club's president, junior Ingrid Jacobson, said the team was "somewhat nervous" because its coach, Mindy Fenner of the nationally ranked Beantown Women's Rugby Team, was not at the game. But Jacobson added that the women played "surprisingly well."
Jacobson missed some of the action because of administrative tasks--finding a tap for the traditional rugby beg of beer.
The women play Tufts on Sunday in the second of their five-game season.
