Denied Winter Campus Housing, International Students Scramble to Find Alternative Options
An enterprising group of Dartmouth students is teaming up with some Harvard capitalists and the Harvard Republican Club to make big bucks out of an age-old rivalry. By selling hats with the logo "Go Harvard, Yale Sucks" to students here, and similar hats that say "Go Yale, Harvard Sucks" to students in New Haven the group hopes to make "a fair amount of money" before Saturday's Game, said Dartmouth student R. Clay Bloomer '84.
Too Fast
Six Harvard students, who invested "hundreds of dollars" in the project, had sold almost 600 hats by yesterday afternoon, said John Dennis '86, who bemoaned the fact that they had not places a larger order. But by 6:00 p.m., their worries were over when a group of Dartmouth students hit the Yale campus last night at about the same time with "modified" hats, Boomer said.
The Republican Club agreed to sponsor the group, a stipulation required by Harvard regulations, and the club will receive 25 cents per hat for their efforts, Bloomer said.
"We got the idea from a Dartmouth game, when we printed up hats that said 'Harvard Sucks,'" Bloomer said. "They sold so well that we decided we'd do the same thing down here," he added.
