Police Blotter

October 9, 3:43 a.m.--The Freshman Dean's office reported a fire in Matthews Hall. A clipboard hanging on a door in the south entry was set on fire, damaging the door.

October 12, 7:26 p.m.--A junior from Mather House was assaulted in front of Humphrey Hall at the Business School. Three white males pushed him into the bushes, and one threatened him with a hockey stick. The student fled on foot.

Officers apprehended a suspect a short time later in Cambridge, but the victim was unable to identify him.

October 13, 10:20 a.m.--Officials at the Countway Library reported that seven rolls of 18-cent stamps were missing from the development office. The stamps were valued at $630.

October 15, 6:29 a.m.--A student security guard reported that some unknown persons had poured green and white paint over the statue of John Harvard. Officers responding failed to find any suspects. Buildings and Grounds was notified.

October 15, 8:55 a.m.--Officials at the day-care center in Radcliffe Yard reported a strange woman in her early thirties watching the children and telling passerby that some of the children were her own. The woman fled when approached.

Police estimated the total value of items stolen last week at $1370, including a cassette deck and $50 worth of candy taken from a machine in Mather House.
