Student I.D. cards from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) will serve as free passes to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts beginning about in November.

MIT is paying the museum $7500 per year for a college-wide discount membership.

Similar college-wide memberships already are in operation at Tufts University, Boston University and Massachusetts College of Arts.
