The Crimson netwomen will swing into action today at the Ivy League Championships, hoping to challenge favored powers Princeton and Yale.
Top-ranked singles player Tiina Bougas has hammered opponents all season. Earlier this fall she copped the New Englands, and she will gun for first this weekend.
"I am psyched for it--I think I can win, but I have to play well," Bougas said this week. Bougas lost a tight struggle to her Yale adversary earlier this season, and she hopes to exact a measure of revenge.
Number two singles racquetwoman Martha Roberts will look to momentum acquired from a strong victory against Brown. Captain Meg Meyer will occupy the third slot.
Sophomore Abby Meiselman expressed confidence about the Crimson's chances. "I think we'll do well--the Brown match gave us some confidence."
But Yale and Princeton should pose a formidable threat, and coach Peter Felske's squad will need to muster more than a positive attitude to capture the Ivy crown. Although the netwomen have strength in the singles division, they should run up against tough doubles competition.
