The Band Show

To the Editors of The Crimson:

The ignominy of sitting through Harvard's football game with Massachusetts was, I thought, the worst I would have to endure last Saturday. My indignation rose, however, at the references made to Pine Manor College by the Harvard band during their half-time show. But the feeling was short-lived as I recalled the general appearance of members of the band who I have passed while walking to the Stadium. I had to conclude that the display could have been little more than an exercise in wishful thinking.

As the second half began I reflected again on the quality of the football game, and I had one further thought. It is truly unfortunate that football is not an intercollegiate sport at Pine Manor. If it were we would most assuredly want to include Harvard's varsity on our schedule. C. Richard Plank   Director of Admissions of Pine Manor College
