Safety Charlie Waters led a Dallas defensive assault that forced the Rams into offensive shock. In their home Colisseum, the Rams committed seven turnovers, Waters stealing two passes and recovering a fumble to set up a pair of Dallas scores.
Tony Doresett capped a 101-yd. day with a 10-yd. scoring romp, and Roger Staubach threw a pair of touchdown tosses while linebacker Thomas Henderson capped the scoring with a 68-yd. interception return.
AFC: Pittsburgh 34, Houston 5
The Steelers romped to victory in Three Rivers Stadium, Terry Bradshaw tossing two touchdown passes just 19 seconds apart to rip open the game minutes before the end of the first half.
The contest, played in a hard, freezing rain, set an NFL playoff record with 12 fumbles. There were also seven interceptions--five by Pittsburgh.
